The markers are there to surround the two corner stitches. A “yo” increase is worked on each side of
both corner stitches every right side row. Sometimes there is also a yo in the lace pattern so only one is
worked. After row 1, there will be extra stitches not accounted for in the chart or words. Keep them in
stockinette until there are enough to include in lace pattern. This happens on row 13. The “yo”
increases for the shawl tip are included in the chart.
Note that for the shawl tip chart, the center leaf has one more “ssk” on the first row than the outer
leaves do. This is to assure an increase of one extra stitch per 10 row repeat. Note that the shawl tip
chart only shows the first 20 rows.
Lace Row 1: Knit 3, work Leaf Lace Chart or words to marker, yo, slip marker, k1, slip marker, work
Shawl Tip Chart across 11 sts, slip marker, k1, slip marker, yo, work Leaf Lace Chart or words to last 3
All Wrong Side Rows: Knit 3, purl to last 3 sts, knit 3.
Lace Row 3: Knit 3, Leaf Lace Chart to 1 st before marker, k1, yo, slip marker, k1, slip marker, Shawl
Tip Chart, slip marker, k1, slip marker, yo, Leaf Lace Chart to last 3 sts, k3.
Lace Row 5: K3, Leaf Lace Chart then knit to marker, yo, slip marker, k1, Shawl Tip Chart, slip
marker, k1, slip marker, yo, knit til proper placement to begin Leaf Lace Chart.
Continue following rows in both charts. Number of stitches to be worked in stockinette on each side of
tip will increase every right side row.
